What is UWUA?
The Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) is a labor union associated with the AFL-CIO representing less than 42,000 workers in electric, gas, steam, water, and nuclear industries.
Dues & Fees
- New members are required to pay a one-time initiation fee that can range from $2 up to $50, according to UWUA’s 2024 LM-2 (financial document).
- According to the UWUA constitution, the base average dues amount for its members increases annually and is currently $89.05 per month.

What It Means to be a UWUA Member
UWUA is the exclusive voice for its members. Union members give up their voice to the UWUA. Their constitution makes that really clear.
In addition, each local union has its own bylaws that lay out things like dues, fees, fines, special assessments, disciplinary procedures and loyalty pledges you’d be expected to take to make sure you stay in line.
